Major League Cricket Final: Seattle Orcas face MI New York

The much-anticipated Major League Cricket final is set to be a blockbuster clash as the Seattle Orcas and MI New York go head-to-head at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas this Sunday.

Both Seattle Orcas and MI New York showcased their supremacy in the playoffs by defeating the formidable Texas Super Kings to secure their spots in the ultimate showdown.

Under the leadership of Wayne Parnell, the Seattle Orcas emerged victorious against the Texas Super Kings in the Qualifier match. Quinton de Kock’s spectacular unbeaten knock of 88 led the Orcas to a resounding 9-wicket triumph. The Texas Super Kings struggled to find their rhythm, losing wickets at regular intervals. Andrew Tye’s brilliant bowling performance, taking three wickets, and Imad Wasim’s early breakthroughs, severely hampered the Super Kings’ chances. Despite Daniel Sams’ valiant unbeaten 26 off 25 balls, the Super Kings restricted to a modest total of 126/9.

In the pursuit of the 127-run target, the Orcas faced an early hiccup with the loss of Nauman Anwar in the second over. However, Quinton de Kock’s explosive innings, comprising 4 sixes and 10 fours off just 50 balls, spearheaded their charge. A match-winning, unbeaten 117-run partnership between de Kock and Shehan Jayasuriya for the second wicket ensured the Orcas sailed safely into the final.

Meanwhile, MI New York, led by Nicholas Pooran, secured their final berth by defeating the Texas Super Kings in the Challenger match. Trent Boult’s brilliant spell of 4/24 played a pivotal role in bundling out the Super Kings for 158 in their allotted 20 overs. In the chase, MI New York experienced some tense moments, but the contributions from Shayan Jahangir (36) and captain Nicholas Pooran (23) set a solid foundation. It was Tim David’s explosive knock of 33 off just 20 balls, embellished with 4 sixes, that turned the tide in their favor, eventually leading MI New York to a thrilling six-wicket triumph with an over to spare.

The stage now set for an enthralling finale, and fans can expect a cricketing spectacle as the Seattle Orcas and MI New York lock horns for the Major League Cricket title.
