RSWS 2023: The Road Safety World Series, a T20 league that brings together renowned retired cricket stars, is set to include the Pakistan team for the very first time in its third season, scheduled to take place in September this year. Until now, the league had been held in India during the 2020-21 and 2022 seasons. However, this time, the tournament has received approval from the England and Wales Cricket Club and will be hosted in England.

The exact dates for the third season are yet to be confirmed, but it is expected to run for at least three weeks, starting from early September. Unlike the previous year with eight teams, this season will feature nine teams in total.

The Road Safety World Series initially launched in 2020. But faced disruptions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to its first season split between 2020 and 2021. The second season took place in 2022. Regrettably, strained political relations between India and Pakistan prevented the participation of any Pakistani team in the first two seasons.

During the inaugural season in March 2020, teams from India, Sri Lanka, South Africa, West Indies, and Australia participated. But the tournament cut short due to the pandemic. Upon its resumption in March 2021 in Raipur, Australia had to withdraw from the event due to COVID-19 travel restrictions. They subsequently replaced by Bangladesh and newly-added England.

The second season  held in Dehradun and Raipur in September 2022. With the addition of New Zealand to the tournament, and Australia’s return. In both editions, the India Legends team emerged victorious, clinching the titles.

The tournament has seen some former ODI and T20 World champions such as Sachin Tendulkar, Kevin Pietersen, Sanath Jayasuriya, Shane Watson, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Yuvraj Singh, along with Brian Lara, Jonty Rhodes, Shane Bond and many others.
